Collection SummaryThomas Lehane was elected to the first council of 1907. He was a pioneer of the Miranda area.BiographyThomas was born in the Sutherland District in 1867. His father was an overseer for Thomas Holt who had purchased much of the land which was to become the Sutherland Shire. As a paid employee Lehane lived on site at a place known as "Old Farm" in the present day suburb of Miranda. The family kept cattle on a site which would later become the Sutherland Hosptial. Thomas stood for Sutherland Shire Council from the first election until 1925. He died suddenly at age 65 in 1933.
