Norman attended Miranda Public School. He joined the AIF in 1915 and after serving in World War One he returned to Australia served as a councillor from 1920 until 1928.
He married Doris Goddard in 1925.
He found work as a labourer and stonemason as well as a poultry farmer.
He died at age 75 and is buried in Woronora Cemetery.
