DescriptionThe original Sutherland Shire District Hospital built in 1958 as seen from the Kingsway looking toward Caringbah probably in the late 1960s to early 70s. The hospital grew to become a complex of buildings which included a kiosk located to the right of the entrance which opened from March 1960. Refreshments were served to visitors and staff by volunteers for many years until the kiosk closed its doors for the last time in 2002. The nurses home visible in the background and to the left provided accommodation so that nurses could live and work on site. A sign indicating the way to Casualty can be seen in the foreground.
