She had come originally from South Australia where she had married Robert Russack in 1901. She opened a movie theatre in 1921 in a community hall known as Boyle's National Hall in Boyle Street Sutherland. It operated as Marshall's Pictures. She had two sons Robert and Marshall who was the projectionist. In conjunction with showing movies she also established movie balls for which money would be raised for the then local St George Hospital. In 1928 she formed a partnership with William McIntyre and they ran purpose built theatres in Sutherland and Miranda which remained popular until the advent of television in Australia. She died in 1954 aged 79.
